CRANKSHAFT/TRANSMISSION 9-9 Crankcase Splitting Crankcase Splitting • Remove the engine (see Engine Removal(8-5)). • Set the engine on a clean surface and hold the engine steady while parts are being removed. • Remove: Cylinder (see Cylinder Removal(5-37)) Clutch (see Clutch Removal(6-12)) External Shift Mechanism (see External Shift Mecha- nism Removal(9-31)) Starter Motor (see Starter Motor Removal(16-53)) Oil Pump (see Oil Pump Removal(7-13)) Alternator Rotor (see Alternator Rotor Removal(16-33)) Oil Filter (see Oil Filter Replacement(2-34)) Oil Pipe (see Oil Pipe Removal(7-17)) Oil Pressure Relief Valve (see Oil Pressure Relief Valve Removal(7-12)) If the crankshaft is to be removed, remove the pistons (see Piston Removal(5-38)). • Loosen the balancer shaft clamp bolt [A]. • Balancer Shaft Clamp Lever Bolt [B] Remove: Balancer Shaft Clamp Lever [C] • Remove the upper crankcase bolts, following the speci- fied sequence. ○Firstly, loosen the M6 bolts [A]. ○Secondly, loosen the M7 bolts [B]. ○Lastly, loosen the M8 bolts [C]. • Remove: Oil Passage Bolts [A] Oil Passage Cover [B]
